Akron Children's Launches Mobile Pediatric Clinic for Mahoning Valley

The program targets access gaps by delivering walk-in care at community sites across three Mahoning Valley counties.

Overview

  • The unit made its first stop in Warren on Nov. 5 and will operate at the Youngstown Main Library on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Families can walk in without appointments for patients from birth to age 21.
  • Services include well-child checkups, sick visits, immunizations, and rapid tests for strep, flu, COVID-19 and mononucleosis, plus urinalysis.
  • Weekly operations begin with Wednesday and Thursday rotations across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, with the schedule posted on Akron Children’s website.
  • The 40-foot Freightliner clinic has two exam rooms and was donated by Ronald McDonald House Charities for exclusive use in the tri-county area to ease transportation barriers and reduce non-emergency ER visits.
