Akram Afif and Kiko Seike Win AFC Player of the Year Awards

Qatar's Afif and Japan's Seike honored for their exceptional performances at the AFC awards ceremony in Seoul.

  • Akram Afif was named AFC Men's Player of the Year for the second time, following his pivotal role in Qatar's Asian Cup victory.
  • Afif, who also won the award in 2019, scored eight goals in the tournament, including a historic hat-trick in the final.
  • Kiko Seike received the AFC Women's Player of the Year award after leading Urawa Red Diamonds to a domestic and Asian club title.
  • Seike is the fourth Japanese player to win the women's award, succeeding Australia's Sam Kerr.
  • Additional honors included Tottenham's Son Heung-min as AFC Men's International Player and Ellie Carpenter as the women's international winner.
