Akon Briefly Arrested in Georgia on Roswell Bench Warrant

An automated license-plate alert led Chamblee officers to his Tesla on a Roswell bench warrant over a suspended-license case.

Overview

  • Chamblee police responded around 11 a.m. on Nov. 7 to a Flock camera hit at a Tint World shop and arrested the 52-year-old near his Tesla Cybertruck.
  • He was booked into DeKalb County Jail just after 12:30 p.m. and released about six hours later after warrant confirmation and processing.
  • Reports say he remained calm, acknowledged the warrant, and a search found no weapons or contraband on him.
  • The warrant traces to a Sept. 10 Roswell stop where officers found his license suspended from a January 2023 failure to appear, issued a citation, and seized an “illegal vape” from the vehicle.
  • A representative says the suspension resulted from a clerical error that was paid and will be addressed in court in early December.
