Akasa Air Marks Third Anniversary With 19 Million Passengers and Fleet Expansion Plans

Fueled by 49% revenue growth, the airline is awaiting regulatory approval for investor funding that will accelerate Boeing 737 MAX deliveries.

Overview

The carrier has flown 19 million passengers since its August 2022 launch—including 8 million in the past year—with a network-wide load factor above 87% across more than 100,000 departures.
In FY25 Akasa reported a 49% year-on-year revenue increase, a 48% rise in available seat kilometres, and transported over 131,000 tonnes of cargo.
Agreements with marquee investors such as Azim Premji and a family office linked to Rakesh Jhunjhunwala are pending approvals from the DGCA and India’s civil aviation ministry.
Akasa operates a 30-jet Boeing 737 MAX fleet serving 28 destinations and expects to exceed 30 aircraft by year-end as deliveries pick up.
Following a March codeshare activation with Etihad Airways, the airline plans further regional growth into SAARC and ASEAN markets and to leverage new Navi Mumbai and Noida international airports.
