Akasa Air, IndiGo to Launch Navi Mumbai Airport Flights on December 25

The launches signal the start of Mumbai’s dual-airport model, promising congestion relief as airlines pledge phased network growth.

  • Akasa Air will operate the maiden Delhi–Navi Mumbai flight on December 25 (QP 1831/1832) and has published schedules to Goa (Dec 25), Kochi (Dec 26) and Ahmedabad (Dec 31).
  • IndiGo will begin the same day with direct services to ten cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi and Mangaluru.
  • Bookings are live on airline channels, with media noting starter fares on some NMIADelhi dates around Rs 5,100–6,000 and early comparisons showing lower prices versus CSMIA on select days.
  • Phase one of NMIA, inaugurated on October 8, includes one terminal and one runway with an annual handling capacity of about 20 million passengers.
  • Akasa says it will ramp up from NMIA to roughly 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures, with airlines describing progressive additions to their route networks.
