Overview
- Akasa Air will operate the maiden Delhi–Navi Mumbai flight on December 25 (QP 1831/1832) and has published schedules to Goa (Dec 25), Kochi (Dec 26) and Ahmedabad (Dec 31).
- IndiGo will begin the same day with direct services to ten cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi and Mangaluru.
- Bookings are live on airline channels, with media noting starter fares on some NMIA–Delhi dates around Rs 5,100–6,000 and early comparisons showing lower prices versus CSMIA on select days.
- Phase one of NMIA, inaugurated on October 8, includes one terminal and one runway with an annual handling capacity of about 20 million passengers.
- Akasa says it will ramp up from NMIA to roughly 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures, with airlines describing progressive additions to their route networks.
