Overview
- Election authorities have completed preparations for voting across 21 constituencies and more than 1.2 million registered voters will be eligible to cast ballots, with polling scheduled for Sunday, August 2.
- The Election Commission has dispatched materials and staff to 1,483 polling stations and 2,219 booths in Muzaffarabad Division while also covering 12 refugee constituencies elsewhere in Pakistan.
- Police deployments are large and tiered: Rawalpindi police plan to field 4,029 officers across the division with 100 district polling stations classified into Category A, B and C and extra personnel and CCTV for the most sensitive sites.
- The election code of conduct is in force with bans on campaigning within 500 metres of polling sites, prohibitions on phones, cameras and firearms inside stations, and warnings of immediate arrest and prosecution for violations.
- Political dynamics remain contested as PML-N, PPP, IPP and others contest the seats while PTI maintains a boycott, and party calls for transparent hearings of first-phase complaints frame phase two as a test of the vote's credibility.
