Ajit Pawar Intensifies Push to Resolve Hinjewadi IT Park Gridlock as Firms Threaten Relocation

  • On Saturday morning, Pawar made his second inspection in two weeks at Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi and cautioned that companies were eyeing moves to Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
  • He instructed Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, PMRDA, MIDC and MahaMetro to coordinate infrastructure efforts with regular site visits and progress reviews.
  • The deputy chief minister ordered immediate plans for a new six-lane road, removal of encroachments, garbage clearance and strengthened drainage to prevent waterlogging.
  • In a follow-up PMRDA meeting, Pawar directed officials to fill potholes, clear debris along natural water channels and regulate heavy vehicles to ease traffic snarls.
  • With Hinjewadi accounting for over 60% of Maharashtra’s IT exports and 37 companies relocating last year, sustained infrastructure upgrades are critical to retaining investment.
