Overview
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the corridor on September 13, flagging off three services that connect Mizoram to Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati.
- Regular weekly Rajdhani operations between Sairang and Delhi’s Anand Vihar begin September 19, covering about 2,510 km in roughly 43 hours with 21 scheduled stops.
- A daily Sairang–Guwahati express and a tri‑weekly Sairang–Kolkata service are also being introduced under the rollout.
- Trains will run on diesel traction between Bairabi and Guwahati until electrification, with an electric locomotive taking over from Guwahati to Anand Vihar.
- Built at about Rs 8,071 crore through rugged hills, the 51‑km project includes 48 tunnels and 142 bridges—featuring a 114‑metre pier—and is expected to cut travel times and boost trade and tourism.
