Airbus Spain Workers Reject Pause and Keep Indefinite Strike

The workforce vote preserves strike pressure because Airbus has tied its pay and workplace package to a suspension of stoppages.

Overview

  • A cross-site ballot overwhelmingly rejected a company request to suspend the indefinite strike, so strike action remains in force and negotiations continue under mediation.
  • Airbus has offered to link salaries to the real CPI, recover 7.6% of lost purchasing power through 2030, add 0.5% for annual reviews, 0.5% for promotions, and pay a €2,000 exceptional payment.
  • The company says its proposal will only be formally applied if unions suspend or deconvene the strike, which is the central point of contention at the negotiating table.
  • Airbus also proposes to keep the current telework agreement with a 40% remote cap and to pause the Bradford absenteeism system with pledged payroll refunds and a joint group to redesign controls.
  • Unions insist any deal must be debated in local assemblies and then put to a binding workforce referendum which means talks at SIMA could lead to further ballots before the strike is lifted.
