Overview
- Airbus inaugurated the second A320 final assembly line at the Jean‑Luc Lagardère site on June 15, 2026, completing the company’s planned ten‑line global A320 final assembly network.
- The global network now comprises four lines in Hamburg, two in Mobile, two in Tianjin and two in Toulouse, giving Airbus more geographic flexibility to keep production running.
- The Toulouse line reuses the former A380 hall and installs digital production controls, automated logistics systems and robotics to speed workflows and improve ergonomics on the shop floor.
- The first Toulouse line currently employs about 700 people and Airbus expects the combined workforce at the site to grow to nearly 1,500 as the new line reaches full output.
- Airbus says the added capacity will help meet strong demand for the larger A321neo and is a step toward its goal of ramping A320‑family production to 70–75 aircraft per month by the end of 2027, a target that depends on coordinated increases across all sites.
