Airbus and Tata Name Karnataka’s Vemagal for India’s First Private H125 Assembly Line

Output is slated to begin at about 10 helicopters a year, with first deliveries targeted for early 2027.

Overview

  • Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems will build H125 helicopters at a new Final Assembly Line in Vemagal in Karnataka’s Kolar district.
  • The facility will be the fourth H125 production site worldwide and the first helicopter final assembly line operated by India’s private sector.
  • Tata Advanced Systems will handle assembly, systems integration, ground checks and final flight tests before delivery.
  • An H125M military variant with higher levels of indigenised components is planned to address Indian armed forces requirements for a light multi‑role helicopter.
  • Components will be sourced via a global supply chain, including engines and gearboxes from France, major airframe sections via Mahindra from Germany, and the tail boom from Spain, with aircraft destined for India and South Asian export markets.
