Airbnb to Pilot Instacart Grocery Ordering in App Starting in January

A limited trial in three U.S. cities extends Airbnb’s Services push by paying hosts to stock kitchens before guests arrive.

Overview

  • Airbnb confirmed a pilot that lets guests place Instacart grocery orders through the Airbnb app before arrival and during their stay.
  • Participating hosts who put away pre-arrival orders will earn $25 per completed order plus a $100 bonus for their first.
  • Guests can schedule grocery deliveries up to three weeks in advance, while in-stay orders must be stored by guests themselves.
  • The test targets select hosts in Phoenix, Orlando and Los Angeles and begins in January, with reports citing a Jan. 5 start and roughly a three-month run.
  • Instacart said the integration is meant to make it easier for guests to stock kitchens and feel at home from day one.
