Airbnb Files Lawsuit Against NYC Over Restrictive Short-Term Rental Regulations

Airbnb has sued New York City over an ordinance that imposes restrictions on short-term rentals.
Airbnb claims the law is the "most extreme and oppressive regulatory scheme yet" and a “de facto ban” against short-term rentals.
The law requires hosts to register with the city, disclose who else lives in the property and comply with zoning, construction and maintenance ordinances.
Airbnb argues that complying with the law is unrealistic and impossible for lay New Yorkers to understand.
The mayor's office has only approved nine short-term rentals in all of NYC, accounting for 0.04% of all active non-hotel listings on Airbnb's platform.
