airBaltic Names Erno Hildén CEO, Effective December 1
A board-led search chose the veteran finance chief to support continuity during a planned growth phase.
Overview
- Interim CEO Pauls Cālītis will continue to lead airBaltic until December 1, then return to the COO role and remain on the Executive Board.
- Erno Hildén said he will prioritize continuity, operational stability, and progress toward the company’s long-term objectives.
- Supervisory Board chairman Andrejs Martinovs said Hildén’s aviation and finance expertise will support the carrier’s next phase of growth.
- A Finnish national, Hildén most recently served as EVP and Group CFO at SAS until June 2025, following senior roles at Saudi Arabian Airlines Group and as Finnair’s CFO and COO.
- The transition follows the April departure of long-time CEO Martin Gauss after the Latvian government, the majority shareholder, withdrew its confidence, prompting Cālītis to serve as interim leader.
