Overview
- Kapoor assumed office on January 1 at Vayu Bhawan in New Delhi, received a Guard of Honour, and laid a wreath at the National War Memorial.
- He succeeds Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, who retired on December 31 after four decades of service.
- Before this appointment, Kapoor led the South Western Air Command, following an earlier tenure as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command.
- Commissioned in December 1986, he is a Qualified Flying Instructor and Fighter Combat Leader with over 3,400 flying hours on MiG-21 and MiG-29, and he holds the PVSM, AVSM, Vayu Sena Medal and the 2025 Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal.
- The IAF also completed senior moves, naming Air Marshal Tejinder Singh to head South Western Air Command and Air Marshal Seethepalli Shrinivas to lead Training Command.
