Overview
- Air India will suspend nonstop Delhi–Washington DC flights from September 1 to maintain network reliability during a temporary capacity gap.
- The pause coincides with a retrofit of 26 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners that will keep several aircraft out of service until late 2026.
- Since April, closure of Pakistani airspace has forced reroutes that include fuel stops in Vienna and lengthen Westbound flights by about four hours.
- Passengers booked beyond September 1 will be contacted and offered one-stop rebooking via New York, Newark, Chicago or San Francisco through interline partnerships, or full refunds.
- The airline will continue nonstop service to six other North American destinations, including Toronto and Vancouver.
