Overview
- Air India will operate an additional Milan–Delhi service on Oct. 19 (AI-138D), scheduled to depart 7 p.m. local time and arrive in Delhi on the morning of Oct. 20, to carry the stranded group.
- Flight AI138 was canceled on Oct. 17 after an extended technical requirement was detected on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner assigned to the route.
- Most travelers were initially rebooked on flights from Oct. 20, while one passenger with a Schengen visa expiring Oct. 20 was moved to another airline on Oct. 19.
- The carrier says hotels and meals were provided, including at properties outside the airport area due to limited availability, as some passengers reported communication gaps and on-ground difficulties.
- The disruption comes as Air India’s Dreamliner fleet faces recent technical issues, with regulators seeking information in another 787 incident reported earlier in the month.
