Air India to Restart DelhiRome in March 2026 as IndiGo Adds DelhiHeathrow in February

The moves reflect a phased rebuild of Delhi’s long-haul hub focused on restoring Europe links.

Overview

  • Air India will resume non-stop DelhiRome flights on March 25, 2026, operating four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
  • The route will use Boeing 787-8 aircraft configured with 18 flat-bed business seats and 238 economy seats.
  • Initial services carry flight numbers AI123/AI122 with published local timings, and bookings are being progressively opened across all sales channels.
  • The DelhiRome route was suspended in 2020 during the pandemic and returned after Air India’s privatisation, network restructuring and wider-body availability improved.
  • IndiGo will launch five-weekly Delhi–London Heathrow flights from February 2, 2026 using wet/damp leased Boeing 787s in a dual-class setup, adding to its existing MumbaiHeathrow service for a total of 12 weekly Heathrow flights.
