Air India Plans Partial Return of International Flights From August 1

Regulatory lock inspections on Boeing 787s are set to continue into September with four routes suspended through the phased resumption.

Overview

  • Phase-one resumption from August 1 includes three weekly AhmedabadLondon Heathrow flights replacing Gatwick service alongside the restoration of full 24-weekly Delhi–Heathrow operations.
  • Delhi–Zurich will increase to five weekly flights from August 1 and DelhiTokyo will resume seven weekly flights from the same date with DelhiSeoul reinstated to five weekly from September 1.
  • Across Europe, North America and Australia, many routes will remain at reduced frequencies and services to AmritsarGatwick, GoaGatwick, BengaluruSingapore and PuneSingapore will be suspended until September 30.
  • AAIB’s preliminary report identified dual fuel control switch cutoffs as the crash trigger and prompted DGCA to order Boeing 787 lock inspections by July 21 with Air India completing checks on half of its 787 fleet.
  • Air India aims to restore its full international wide-body schedule by October 1 and is proactively offering affected passengers rebooking options or full refunds.
