Overview

  • Air India flight AI2744 skidded off Mumbai’s primary runway on July 21 during heavy rain, bursting three tyres and grounding the A320neo for technical checks while all passengers and crew disembarked safely.
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport activated its secondary runway and deployed emergency response teams after minor damage to the main strip preserved uninterrupted operations.
  • Later the same day, Air India flight AI2403 aborted its takeoff roll at Delhi’s IGI Airport due to a technical snag, with 160 passengers deplaned safely and the service rescheduled under standard safety procedures.
  • Earlier this week, Air India Express flight IX 110 returned to Hyderabad on July 19 and IndiGo flight 6E 6591 made an emergency landing at Tirupati on July 20, each carrier arranging alternative aircraft and reporting no injuries.
  • The DGCA and AAIB continue impartial probes into the June 12 Dreamliner crash and have mandated targeted inspections of Boeing 787-8 and 737 fuel control systems to reinforce maintenance standards.
