Overview

  • Cabin crew and a volunteer nurse converted the cabin into a delivery room at 35,000 feet, following emergency medical protocols to ensure the baby’s safety.
  • Pilots alerted Mumbai air traffic control to secure a priority landing and directed medical teams and an ambulance to await the arrival.
  • Senior Cabin Crew Sneha Naga and flight attendants Aishwarya Shirke, Asiya Khalid and Muskan Chauhan assisted under the command of Captains Ashish Vaghani and Faraz Ahmed.
  • Upon touchdown, both mother and newborn were transferred directly to a nearby hospital where they remain in stable condition.
  • Travel plans have been upended as the mother, who was en route to Bangkok with her toddler, now needs passports and an Indian visa for the baby and is expected to stay in Mumbai for at least a week under airline support.
