Overview
- On June 12, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London, crashed after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 241 of the 242 people on board.
- Only one passenger miraculously survived the crash.
- Among the dead was 22-year-old cabin crew member Irfan Shaikh, who had completed training with Vistara and joined Air India following their merger.
- Shaikh’s family provided a DNA sample from his brother to assist in identifying his remains and has been told results could take 48 to 72 hours before his body is released.
