The cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run, following Standard Operating Procedures, an Air India spokesperson said.
Air India said flight AI 504, scheduled to depart Cochin International Airport at 10:40 pm, faced a technical issue during its take-off roll.
Air India said the decision stems from a planned shortfall in its fleet as 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft undergo extensive retrofitting.

  • The airline arranged hotel stays in Milan and offered full refunds or complimentary rebooking while working on alternative travel for affected passengers.
  • On August 17, flight AI504 from Kochi to Delhi aborted its takeoff roll, returned to the bay for maintenance checks and was swapped for another aircraft.

  • DGCA and AAIB investigators remain involved in ongoing audits and probes that followed the fatal June Dreamliner crash, even as Air India insists recent fleet inspections found no defects.
