Air India, Airbus Open Joint Pilot Training Hub in Gurugram

The DGCA/EASA-approved centre opens with two A320 simulators to expand India’s pilot pipeline.

Overview

  • The 12,000 sq m joint facility at the Air India Aviation Training Academy is configured for A320 and A350 type-rating with advanced classrooms and briefing rooms.
  • The centre starts with two A320 full flight simulators, with six additional A320 units and two A350 units to be installed in phases for a total of 10 simulators.
  • The programme is intended to produce more than 5,000 new pilots over the next decade to support Air India’s fleet expansion.
  • The Gurugram site consolidates Air India’s pilot training and, together with Airbus’s Delhi centre, brings the network to 14 A320-family simulators.
  • Air India is also developing a DGCA-licensed FTO at Amravati targeting 180 commercial pilot graduates annually and a BMTO near its Bengaluru MRO planned for FY27.
