Air India, Air India Express Add 166 Patna Flights for Diwali–Chhath Travel and Bihar Polls

The temporary schedule targets the festival–election surge, complementing Indian Railways’ special services.

Overview

  • Air India will operate 114 extra flights from October 15 to November 2, adding 38 each on the DelhiPatna, MumbaiPatna, and BengaluruPatna routes.
  • Air India Express will run 52 extra flights from October 22 to November 3, with 26 on DelhiPatna and 26 on BengaluruPatna.
  • The carriers say the boost addresses heavy demand linked to Diwali and Chhath Puja as well as Bihar’s assembly polls on November 6 and 11.
  • The additions are on top of existing weekly services reported by the airlines, expanding near-term capacity into and out of Patna.
  • Indian Railways has scheduled roughly 12,000 to 12,739 festival special trains operating from October 1 to November 15 to handle peak travel.
