Air India Activates Winter Fog Plan and Launches ‘Fog Care’ Ahead of DGCA Low-Visibility Window

Frequent low visibility in northern India drives pre-season safeguards to keep flights running.

Overview

  • The DGCA has set December 10, 2025 to February 10, 2026 as the official fog window for low-visibility operations.
  • Air India has deployed CAT III B–certified aircraft at key fog-prone airports and rostered cockpit crews trained for Low Visibility Operations with standby teams available.
  • Operational monitoring will run through the Integrated Operations Control Centre using real-time weather data, safety risk assessments, and advance schedule adjustments.
  • Station-level preparedness includes additional ground support, care packages at origin and diversion airports, regular announcements, and proactive rebooking for disrupted travellers.
  • The airline’s Fog Care policy offers passengers on likely affected flights complimentary rescheduling or a full refund, supported by proactive updates via SMS, WhatsApp, email, website and social channels.
