Overview

• Air Force Global Strike Command has kept its suspension of the Sig Sauer M18 pistol in effect across all wings pending results of AFOSI and AFGSC Safety Office investigations.
• Security Forces personnel are temporarily equipped with M4 rifles to maintain base security during the M18 stand-down.
• Combat-arms airmen are performing 100 percent inspections of the command’s M18 pistols to identify any immediate safety issues.
• The command is collaborating with the Air Force Security Forces Center and Headquarters Air Force Security Forces to review the M18’s design and recommend corrective measures.
• Sig Sauer has offered assistance to the investigation and reaffirmed confidence in the P320 platform despite previous uncommanded discharge incidents and ongoing litigation.
