Overview
- The 950th Spectrum Warfare Group stood up two provisional detachments at Robins AFB on Aug. 8, which are due to become the 501st and 81st Electronic Warfare Squadrons pending Headquarters Air Force approval.
- Detachment 1, set to become the 501st EWS, hosts the Electronic Warfare Assessment Laboratory to simulate and verify cumulative effectiveness of strike packages at Combatant Command planning levels.
- Detachment 2, earmarked as the 81st EWS, will focus on datalink resilience, electronic protection features and long-range kill-chain enablers to ensure dynamic lethality in contested electromagnetic environments.
- The Air Force adopted a detachments-first strategy to accelerate capability delivery and concentrate expert staffing before formal squadron activations.
- Both units, under the 950th Spectrum Warfare Group and 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing, have begun operational modeling, simulation and laboratory assessments to inform tactics, readiness and future acquisitions.
