Air Canada Sets MontrealPalma de Mallorca as First A321XLR Route in June 2026

The long-range narrowbody positions the carrier to open thinner transatlantic routes with lower operating costs.

Overview

  • Seasonal nonstop service will run four times weekly from June 17 to late October 2026, marking the first Canadian flights to Mallorca.
  • Air Canada expects first A321XLR deliveries in the first quarter of 2026 with up to 10 aircraft arriving that year, aligning entry into service with the June launch.
  • The aircraft will seat 182 passengers with 14 lie‑flat Signature Class seats and 168 in economy, introducing lie‑flat beds on an Air Canada narrowbody for the first time.
  • Existing Montreal routes to Toulouse and Edinburgh are slated to transition to the A321XLR later in 2026, with additional deployments from Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax as more jets arrive.
  • Air Canada has 30 A321XLRs on firm order with options for 10 more; the type’s roughly 4,700‑nautical‑mile range enables efficient long‑thin transatlantic flying compared with widebodies.
