Air Canada Overhauls Aeroplan With Revenue-Based Rewards and Unified Status Credits

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Aeroplan points will be earned per dollar spent on qualifying fares under a revenue-based structure with elite status determined by unified Status Qualifying Credits

Overview

  • Members will earn a minimum of one Aeroplan point per dollar spent on base fares and carrier surcharges for eligible Air Canada flights, excluding taxes and fees.
  • Status Qualifying Credits will replace separate dollar, mile and segment benchmarks; members can earn them through flight purchases, credit card spending and partner activity with up to 25,000 credits available annually from each source.
  • Elite members will receive point multipliers ranging from 2× for 25K status up to 6× for Super Elite on per-dollar base awards.
  • All current core and milestone perks, such as priority check-in, free checked bags and Status Passes, will continue under the new system.
  • Starting in 2027, premium Aeroplan credit cardholders who qualify for elite status will receive a 10% bonus on their previous year’s Status Qualifying Credits.
