Air Canada Flight Attendants Begin Vote on Pay Terms of Tentative Deal

Members are casting ballots on wages under a deal that routes any rejection to arbitration.

Overview

  • More than 10,000 CUPE-represented cabin crew are voting Aug. 27–Sept. 6, with results to be released shortly after polls close.
  • The tentative four-year framework leaves non-wage provisions in effect regardless of the vote, including new partial pay for pre‑departure duties.
  • Ground time compensation starts at 50% of hourly rate for 60 minutes on narrow-bodies and 70 minutes on wide-bodies, rising to 70% by 2028.
  • Proposed wage increases include 12% this year for most junior attendants and 8% for more senior staff, followed by 3% on Apr. 1, 2026, 2.5% in 2027 and 2.75% in 2028.
  • Some flight attendants have voiced opposition over the raises compared with pilot gains, while the union urges ratification and notes a rejection would send pay to a third-party arbitrator.
