Air Bag Company Refuses Massive Recall Despite Deaths and Risk of Further Explosions

ARC Automotive says it can’t guarantee its air-bag inflators won’t explode and kill more people.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has demanded ARC recall 67 million defective inflators used in air bags for at least 12 automakers.
ARC has refused to issue a full recall, pushing the issue toward a court fight even as its inflators have already caused at least one death.
At least 33 million vehicles on the road likely have the type of inflators that have exploded and hurled shrapnel at drivers and passengers.
Owners of vehicles from multiple makers are left unsure whether their air bags contain the dangerous inflators.
