Ailing Alligator Rescued From Prospect Park Dies Following 'Animal Abuse'

An emaciated alligator found in Prospect Park was rescued and brought to the Bronx Zoo for rehabilitation in February.
Despite extensive treatment,the alligator suffered from severe health issues and died.
Zoo officials called it a tragic case of animal abuse and reminded the public that wild animals are not pets.
The alligator had been found on February 19th and received treatment at the zoo until its death.
Alligators are not native to New York and often struggle to survive in the environment.
