Overview
- Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda reviewed the AIIMS‑Bibinagar campus on Thursday and said the institute should be fully operational by December 2026.
- Officials report 87% of construction is complete and remaining work is being tracked through weekly reviews by the institute and bi‑monthly checks by the Union Health Ministry’s Additional Secretary.
- Clinical services are already active with about 1,800 outpatients a day, functioning inpatient and emergency units, and advanced diagnostics including CT, MRI and DEXA scanners.
- The institute has grown its academic and research base with 132 faculty, 133 senior residents, two completed MBBS cohorts, 24 MD programmes, five DM super‑speciality courses, roughly ₹64 crore in research grants and 129 ongoing projects.
- Developed by retrofitting a 2008 state medical college at an approved cost near ₹1,100 crore, AIIMS‑Bibinagar is running telemedicine through eSanjeevani, a community radio, six adopted villages and hundreds of medical camps which together extend care beyond the campus and link services to national schemes such as PMJAY.
