The Delhi High Court welcomed the plan, urging swift delivery under its suo motu winter-shelter case.

Overview

  • Sevadaan Arogya Foundation has expressed willingness to develop the new rest house, which AIIMS said is expected to be completed in around two years.
  • As an immediate step, AIIMS offered land to DUSIB for roughly 80 pagoda-style night shelters for patients’ attendants.
  • DUSIB reported installing 20 pagodas near AIIMS and Safdarjung and 20 tents each near RML Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital, with more structures planned.
  • Following the court’s direction to use subways for temporary relief, the AIIMS Metro subway is being managed as a shelter with on-site registration and outreach to move people into beds.
