Overview
- The teenager, known as Tanvi, was admitted to AIIMS on August 24 and suffered a severe hypoxic spell that led to cardiac arrest in the early hours of September 1 and was declared dead at 5:06 am.
- She was first evaluated at AIIMS in 2012 and diagnosed with ventricular septal defect with pulmonary atresia, a complex anatomy that disrupts blood flow from the heart to the lungs.
- AIIMS says detailed imaging in 2013 and expert reviews led treating clinicians to conclude in 2017 that corrective surgery was not feasible and that the patient should be managed medically, with a transplant assessed after her deterioration in August 2026.
- Her father alleges that surgery dates were repeatedly postponed over 13–14 years, that he paid deposits and supplied blood in 2014, and that he has withheld the body pending answers and a formal inquiry.
