AIIMS Jammu Reports First-Year Patient Load, Outlines Expansion Plan
The CEO said expanded super-specialty capacity plus a genomics center is positioning the campus as a regional referral destination.
Overview
- Since becoming operational in August 2024, the institute has recorded over 368,000 outpatient visits, 8,783 inpatient admissions and 22,810 emergency cases, alongside 3,283 surgeries, ICU care for 1,297 patients and 1,624 dialysis sessions.
- Diagnostics have scaled with more than 60,022 X-rays, 34,480 ultrasounds, 13,515 CT scans and 4,060 MRIs, supported by a 24x7 biochemistry lab processing 500–700 samples daily with rapid automated reporting.
- Multiple super-specialty services are now running, and the campus houses the only Centre for Advanced Genomics and Precision Medicine across AIIMS, as oncology services deliver chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immunotherapy.
- Patient access has been streamlined through an indoor navigation app, a Swasthya app for appointments and diagnostics, a Patient Care Manager and Rogi Sahayak Mitra system, Parikrama Seva e-carts and an AYUSH screening wing for walk-ins.
- Academics and research have expanded to six MBBS batches of 100 students, B.Sc Nursing and postgraduate programs with 140+ projects and collaborations, while the institute cites CPWD’s Best Project award, a No. 7 Outlook 2025 ranking and a roadmap for Centres of Excellence, rural outreach, satellite units and a proposed Global Centre for AI in Healthcare.
