• AIIMS officials said the SET facility is now the only centre in the country with two robots dedicated exclusively to training.
• The da Vinci system was installed under a memorandum of understanding with Intuitive Surgical and complements the existing Medtronic Hugo trainer.
• Training will span multiple specialties, including urology, gynaecology, general surgery, oncology, and head and neck surgery.
• The institute said domestic access will replace expensive overseas courses, noting older da Vinci models cost an estimated ₹8–20 crore excluding annual service fees.
