Overview
- AIIMS Delhi inaugurated a da Vinci Surgical Robot at its SET facility dedicated to training in robotic-assisted procedures.
- It is the first da Vinci system installed specifically for training at a government medical college in India, the institute said.
- The da Vinci platform complements an existing Medtronic Hugo trainer, making AIIMS the only centre with two robots reserved exclusively for education.
- Trainees will include students, residents, nurses and faculty across urology, gynaecology, general surgery, oncology, and head and neck surgery.
- AIIMS leaders say the partnership will reduce the need for costly overseas courses and enhance surgical precision and recovery, with Intuitive India committing support for full utilisation.
