AIFF, FSDL Submit Joint Plan to Supreme Court, Paving Way for December ISL Restart

FIFA has warned that India faces suspension if a compliant AIFF constitution is not ratified by October 30.

Overview

  • The joint submission proposes an open, competitive tender to select the ISL commercial partner, with the process to conclude by October 15 and potentially overseen by an independent firm.
  • FSDL has agreed to waive its Right of First Negotiation and Right to Match, to issue a No Objection Certificate for the tender, and to not oppose a new rights holder during the current agreement.
  • Subject to AFC consent, the plan targets a December restart of league football, with the season kept active by launching first with the Super Cup or another AIFF-run competition.
  • The Supreme Court took the proposal on record and asked parties to reflect on it, signaling it could issue directions as early as Monday.
  • The proposal follows a binding FIFAAFC ultimatum to secure court approval and ratify a compliant AIFF constitution by October 30 or risk suspension, after months of disruption linked to the expiring AIFFFSDL rights deal.
