Overview
- The AIFC Court entered a default judgment on Sept. 15 that bars Coinbase, BingX, Bitcoin.com, HTX, BitMart and WEEX from offering, marketing or distributing mobile apps for unlicensed digital-asset services inside the Astana International Financial Centre.
- The injunctions apply only to the AIFC and to users located there and do not amount to a nationwide ban across Kazakhstan.
- AFSA is preparing to serve Google and Apple with court papers to seek geographic restrictions on the six apps, though the regulator has not confirmed that those app-store orders have been served or implemented.
- The six operators were ordered to pay about KZT 1.995–2 million in legal costs and may either apply for AIFC authorization to continue services or challenge the court orders through available legal remedies.
- The action follows AFSA warnings to more than 20 platforms since 2025, nine firms voluntarily restricted app access and seven signalled plans to seek AIFC licences, a pattern that could shift users toward licensed domestic platforms that meet KYC and anti-money-laundering rules.
