Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce announced Aidan O’Connell will start at quarterback against the Kansas City Chiefs on Black Friday.
O’Connell, sidelined since Week 7 with a right thumb injury, was activated from injured reserve earlier this week and participated in limited practices.
The decision follows Gardner Minshew’s season-ending collarbone injury sustained in last Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos.
Desmond Ridder, signed in October as a backup, will serve as O’Connell’s secondary option for the game.
The Raiders, currently 2-9, face a significant challenge against the 10-1 Chiefs, with Pierce urging the team to play aggressively and embrace their underdog role.
