AICC Appoints 27 Vice-Presidents and 69 General Secretaries to Telangana Congress Unit

Following the June 7 cabinet expansion with three new ministers, the restructuring aims to boost grassroots representation ahead of local body elections.

  • The AICC approved the appointment of 27 vice-presidents and 69 general secretaries to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on June 9, ending a six-month delay since B. Mahesh Kumar Goud became state unit president.
  • Members of backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minority communities account for about 67% of vice-presidents and 68% of general secretaries in the new leadership team.
  • AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal released the list after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge cleared the proposal.
  • The reshuffle came two days after the state cabinet was expanded on June 7 with the induction of G Vivek Venkataswamy, Adluri Laxman Kumar and Vakiti Srihari as ministers.
  • Party leaders plan to finalise four TPCC working presidents following a scheduled meeting between Kharge and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Delhi.
