Overview

  • AIADMK’s General Council passed 16 resolutions that confirmed an AIADMK–BJP partnership within the NDA for 2026 and empowered Edappadi K. Palaniswami to decide allies and seat-sharing.
  • The resolutions urged Union approval for Coimbatore and Madurai Metro projects and voiced support for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
  • Palaniswami claimed the alliance is poised to win 210 of 234 seats, citing a combined 41.33% vote share from 2024 Lok Sabha results, a party projection rather than an independent forecast.
  • Applications from AIADMK aspirants will be issued from December 15 and accepted through December 23 for Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.
  • BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthran met Palaniswami in Chennai as alliance moves gathered pace, while TVK named Vijay its CM face, authorised him to decide alliances, and set up seat-sharing and manifesto committees.
