Channel 1, a new startup, plans to launch the world's first AI-anchored news service in 2024, with content written by AI and delivered by artificial anchors.
The AI anchors will report news that has been fact-checked by humans, sourced from a variety of places including big-name news agencies, independent journalists, and fact-based documents like government reports and court cases.
Channel 1 also plans to use AI to generate images to create footage of events where cameras were not able to capture the action, and all AI-generated imagery will be labeled as such.
The startup aims to launch an app that delivers a personalized news feed, with the first iteration being a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel.
Channel 1 is currently self-funded with ten employees and is in talks with investors for larger fundraising efforts.
