AI Algorithm Uses Tongue Scans to Detect Diseases with 98% Accuracy

Researchers from Iraq and Australia have developed a machine learning system that diagnoses health conditions by analyzing tongue color, shape, and thickness.

The AI system can identify diseases like diabetes, stroke, anemia, asthma, and COVID-19.
Developed by Middle Technical University and University of South Australia, the algorithm was trained on over 5,000 tongue images.
The technology replicates a 2,000-year-old traditional Chinese medicine practice.
The system achieved a 96.6% accuracy rate in real-world hospital tests.
Future applications could include smartphone-based disease screening.
