AHPI Hospitals to Halt Cashless Care for Bajaj Allianz in North India From Sept. 1

AHPI says outdated tariffs no longer cover rising costs, prompting a push for rate reviews tied to medical inflation.

Overview

  • The Association of Healthcare Providers–India advised more than 15,000 member hospitals, including Max Healthcare and Medanta, to suspend cashless treatment for Bajaj Allianz policyholders starting September 1.
  • Hospitals will continue treating these patients on a self-pay basis, with bills to be settled upfront and reimbursement sought from the insurer afterward.
  • AHPI cites long-unrevised reimbursement rates, estimated 7–8% annual medical inflation, unilateral deductions, delayed settlements, and slow pre-authorisations.
  • The association characterises the move as a temporary suspension that could be lifted once fair, sustainable tariffs are agreed.
  • Bajaj Allianz expressed surprise and signalled willingness to work toward a solution, while AHPI also issued a notice to Care Health Insurance with an August 31 response deadline.
