- Head constable Jayanti Zala was suspended after DCP Traffic (West) Bhavna Patel acknowledged fault and said officers must show restraint.
- The Dec. 19 encounter at Paldi was filmed as the woman asked for the officer’s ID, the card slipped to the road, and the constable slapped her.
- The motorist, identified as Bansari Thakkar, reported injuries and filed a complaint after calling 112, alleging a Paldi station refusal that police dispute.
- Police registered a case related to the assault and also booked the woman under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 281, 221, 296(b) and 351(1), and Motor Vehicles Act sections 177 and 184.
- Authorities are examining additional videos, including clips suggesting prior confrontations, as MLA Jignesh Mevani publicly demanded an FIR and the officer’s arrest.
