Ahmedabad Crime Branch Nabs Three Brothers in Ajmer Meat-Trade Killings

Investigators traced the fugitives via surveillance after they fled Rajasthan, leaving a further three suspects on the run.

Overview

  • Police identified the arrested brothers as Salman s/o Abdulali Qureshi, Allarakha Abdulali Qureshi, and Avesh (Oves) Abdulali Qureshi, residents of Shauryawan Mohalla in Ajmer’s Diggi Bazaar.
  • The trio was handed over to Ramganj police in Rajasthan and booked under BNS Section 103(2), which covers murder committed by a group of five or more acting in concert.
  • The case stems from a July 15 clash outside Pakiza Meat Shop in Ajmer after a WhatsApp dispute over chicken prices, where about 14 men attacked with sharp weapons and rods.
  • Two victims, meat shop owner Imran and his nephew Shahnawaz, died from the assault, about ten others were injured, and police say the total number of accused held has reached ten.
  • Investigators later deemed the death of Gulaam alias Nakku a revenge killing, a separate FIR was filed, and officers have held community meetings to ease tensions.
