Agolada Mayor Sentenced to Prison for Document Falsification and Abuse of Power

Luis Calvo Miguélez faces three and a half years in prison, disqualification from public office, and fines for illegally sealing dairy plant expansion works.

  • Luis Calvo Miguélez, mayor of Agolada, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison by the Audiencia Provincial de Pontevedra for falsifying an official document and prevarication.
  • In addition to prison time, he received 13.5 years of disqualification from public office and passive suffrage, along with a fine of €4,500 and procedural cost obligations.
  • Calvo fabricated and signed a government board agreement in January 2020 to justify sealing the expansion of the Lácteos Farelo dairy plant, knowing the board did not exist at the time.
  • The court also ordered him to pay €27,798 in compensation to the dairy company for economic losses caused by the illegal sealing, with civil liability assigned to the municipality.
  • Calvo has ten days to appeal the ruling to the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG), as outlined in the sentencing issued on April 22, 2025.
